Who won the $500,000, Father or Son?
Pokerstars withdraws prize money of Sunday Million winner Jimmy ‘zeurr’ Jonker Read more
This Sunday, Dutch poker player ‘zeurrr’ turned his $2 investment in half a million dollar in the special edition of Pokerstars’ Sunday Million with a total prize pool of $11 million. When the second biggest newspaper in the Netherlands -Algemeen Dagblad- wanted to interview the winner they came across something strange…
A journalist from the newspaper tried to call the winner, assuming it was ‘Jimmy Jonker’. This was based on the fact that a person with the nickname ‘Jiminho3′ was posting about the tournament on a poker forum with this alias. He also signed one of his forum messages with ‘Greetz Jimmy’.
When the newspaper called the lucky guy to congratulate him, his 47-year old father Jos Jonker told the journalist he was the 6th place finisher in the Sunday Million. This smelled a bit, and after further investigation it appeared that son Jimmy is only 17 year old. In the Terms & Conditions of Pokerstars it’s stated that ‘individuals under 18 years of age’ are not allowed to play and if false information is provided Pokerstars will not pay out any sums and can even proceed to prosecute the player.
Father Jos Jonker did not want to give any details about how the tournament went for him. The newspaper made a screenshot of Jimmy’s Twitter account :
When MPC Poker checked the Twitter account from Jimmy, we saw the info on the Twitter account was changed:
Well, well, well…now the name of the Twitter account is Jos Jonker, and all the tweets magically dissapeared. To be continued…

Nice story, especially like the ‘Twitter discovery’
the next question is, did they work
together sharing card information to further their advance in the tourney. while it is a great feat for a father and son to be able to simultaneously finish in the top 10
of a tourney with 50000 players, it
should be questioned as improbable and possibly unethical or illegal to have happened
You’re not getting the story right. They didn’t make the final table with 2 accounts it was just 1 account played (probably by the son since it’s under his name) the thing is that the account belongs to a underage so the father is claiming he is the account holder (so they can cash the prize for his 6th place).
im a professional poker player that plays mainly on pokerstars and my opinion is that stars wont let this guy keep a dime. they are pretty strict about their ToS, and have to be, obv.
so who actually gets the money then? pokerstars or redistributed ???i actually finished in the top 70 in this tourny!
Hopefully redistributed to the 2411th finisher (me)
