Bandleader Nick Hempton crossed his fingertips when he moved to New York from his native Sydney in 2004, wishing the city’s insightful jazz night clubs would immediately offer plenty of chances to experience.

Things got better when Hempton learned about Music for Tomorrow, a New York-based nonprofit that can help jazz musicians find function. In Dec, the charity booked Hempton’s music group to perform at Google Corporation.
