Some time ago we wrote about playing iPad poker for real money. Ok, it was possible, but you do had to work around it somehow. Now there is Switch Poker, the first poker room that aims completely on iPad poker and iPhone poker.
Was it thát hard to play poker on the Apple devices you might ask? As you might know, Apple likes to control things and especially what’s offered in their App Store. And casino and poker: they don’t like that at ‘the big A’. The company takes action accordingly by forbidding gambling-related apps in their store. Luckily there are also other smart people on the planet who know how to deal with this monopolistic behaviour.
Switch Poker
Switch Poker did not work out as an application, but as a program with which you can play in your browser. This works roughly the same way as we wrote about in the aforementioned article, with the difference that Switch Poker is custom made for the Apple devices so everything runs smoothly.
The poker room is set simply with less options and possibilities than regular online poker sites. At the moment you only have the option to play No Limit Texas Hold’em cash games, though the people at Switch Poker are working hard to offer more variety with tournaments and other stuff. Because NL Hold’em cash games are by far the biggest in online poker, most people are probably pleased with this.
Switch Poker Bonus
As a new poker site you have to offer your players a nice bonus of course. Switch doesn’t offer the usual cash bonuses, but a -in my opinion- rather strange bonus: they give away a free iPad or iPhone as a welcome bonus! Fairly odd, ’cause you need one of those devices to play anyways. On the other hand, it can be useful when you own an iPhone and want to have an iPad (or the other way around). Like most poker bonuses, you have to clear the bonus first. To receive an iPhone you need to rake in approx. €600 and for an iPad €1,000. Not a small amount, but say you are a real grinder with an iPad that plays a lot lying on the couch, then an iPhone is cleared pretty fast.
