An apparent suicide bomber made for some big panic this weekend in Arizona Charlie’s Boulder Hotel & Casino when he walked into the casino with what appeared to be an explosive device around his waist.
The man walked straight to the security staff and lifted his shirt to show the device. This provided for great panic with the guests and staff of the casino, and even more so when he said: “You’ve got five minutes to evacuate Arizona Charlie’s before I blow this thing up.”
The guards managed to talk the man out of the casino, where he kept making threads that he will blow up himself. In the meantime, a SWAT Team arrived and the staff could evacuate the casino.
As the man kept asking to shoot him things didn’t totally add up for the police team. It looked like the confused man was going for what is called a “suicide by cop”, but luckily the police staff didn’t fall for this bluff.
After a few hours, the man gave up and it appeared the bomb device was fake and he was indeed trying to commit suicide in this original way. The man is currently in custody while an assessment is being made of his mental state.
