Prahlad Friedman signs with the site where he was cheated for millions? | Online Poker Club MPC

Remarkable rumours are circling around on poker forums at the moment: Prahlad Friedman is about to sign with UB.com. Why is that remarkable?

Let’s go back to the year 2007. Prahlad Friedman was on top of the world. He was killing it in online poker and was what Tom ‘Durrrr’ Dwan is now: a true Poker God. Under his alias ‘SpiritRock’ he butchered his opponents at the high stakes Heads Up tables.

Then there was Russ Hamilton.

Hamilton was an ex-employee of Ultimate Bet, who created a ‘super user account’ during his time at UB which allowed him to see all his opponents hole cards. When he left the company he used the account to play at the online poker site against various opponents. His biggest victim was Prahlad ‘SpiritRock’ Friedman, who lost millions of dollars in a series of Heads Up battles against Hamilton.

A new experience for the Swede, who was used to winning. The huge losses against his unknown nemesis got to him and Prahlad lost confidence. He left the highes stakes and went through a rough period. He finally recovered and is a feared poker pro again, but not at the highest stakes anymore.

You would say Friedman would never play again on the site which made this all possible. But not Friedman. Last year he started playing again at UB and what makes the story even more unbelievable is that -according to various sources- SpiritRock is about to sign a sponsorship contract with UB!

Daniel Negreanu made it very clear on his Twitter what he thinks about this:

“So disappointed in @prahladfriedman signing with the devil who stole millions from him. He was so ‘anti-sellout’ and then he did the unthinkable… They must have paid him a lot to join the dark side and endorse the exact same people who ruined him. So sad and so mind-boggling… The current owners of AP/UB are spending Prahlad’s money. They must be mocking him at this point. Cheat the dude and watch him endorse us!”

It seems like Prahlad Friedman has forgiven UB..
