Phil Hellmuth gives poker lessons to Oakland A’s | Poker Bonus Club Marawa
News·
Phil Hellmuth was on a mission this week to teach Chinese Poker to the baseball players from the Oakland A’s. Appearantly the lessons were well-received because ‘The Poker Brat’ had the opportunity to throw the first pitch this Tuesday in the game against the Seattle Mariners.
Players who took part in the lessons were pitcher Andrew Bailey, catcher Landon Powell and the team member that is considered the best poker player of the team, outfielder Coco Crisp.
Phil Hellmuth spends a lot of time on the road promoting poker – and he took the opportunity yesterday to spend part of his time doing so with baseball’s Oakland A’s.
In Hellmuth-like fashion, the UB-sponsored pro described his throw on his Twitter: “Whew, was Simply hoping to NOT embarrass myself, but hurled it 75 mph up middle!! For non-believers–not sure even I believe it–video soon”
His visit to the A’s is characteristic for Hellmuth, who appears to be hanging out with celebrities all the time these days. He notified the world already about meetings with people like Michael Phelps and Bill Clinton.
Hellmuth’s throw didn’t help the A’s in their game with the Mariners. They lost with 7-5, putting them back 7 games of the Texas Rangers. As for the Chinese Poker, would it not have been better to ask Phil Ivey?
