Durrrr burned out
Tom ‘Durrrr’ Dwan is a guy that is not always super happy with giving interviews about his personal life. He prefers to spend his time making millions of dollars with playing poker at the highest stakes possible.
There are times however, when a man just can’t avoid certain things and giving an interview to one of the best journalists in poker is one such thing. Especially when under contract with a big poker room -Dwan signed with Full Tilt Poker this year- you have to open up once in a while.
Dwan did just that in an interview with Poker Player Magazine’s Michael Kaplan. One of poker’s biggest is still somewhat reserved about certain things, especially about exact amounts of wins or losses, but we get to know Dwan a lot better than ever before. He digressed about his remarkable prop bets during the World Series of Poker this year and moreover about stuff he likes to outside of poker. It appears that Durrrr is a great fan of the most expensive red wines and that he doesn’t gives a rat’s ass about what people think of him.
The most noteworthy part of the interview is the part where Dwan talks about him being burned out at the moment: ‘I am so burned out,’ Dwan excused himself about the fact that it took so long before he called Kaplan back for the interview. ‘But I knew the burnout would come. I played so much poker for the last year. Since the start of 2009 I played a ton of poker, double what I normally play. Then, for parts of June and July, it was four times what I normally play – like 300 hours over five-and-a-half weeks.’
Dwan adds that he is still going to play, but in a lower pace. At the moment he is more likely to play fussball and ping pong than poker because of his burn out.
