jonathan duhamel wsop winThe 23-years old Jonathan Duhamel has won the Main Event of the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Last night he beated the 24-years old John Racener in the ‘youngest Heads Up in WSOP history’.

The victory was celebrated like a succeeded ‘coup d’etat’. The French-Canadian friends of the winner went completely crazy after the last hand and couldn’t stop their ‘Olé Olé Olé’. Of course, they took Duhamel on their shoulders to celebrate.

Then again, they had to wait long for this final table. More then four months after the players reached the final table, play continued in the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Duhamel started the final table as the overwhelming chipleader, but had to give this up pretty soon when he lost his AK against the AA from Filippo Candio after just 30 hands and a big hand against Joseph Cheung.

In the meantime, there was more action on the felt. With 5 players left crowd’s favorite Michael Mizrachi -supported by his hot wif Lily Mizrachi- lost all his chips in this hand:

Play continued and Cheung took the chiplead, before losing it in this interesting hand:

Then it was time for the biggest pot in WSOP history when Joseph Cheung made a big misstep. The American showed no fear when he 6-bet (!) shoved his A7 offsuit preflop all-in. Duhamel called for all his chips with pocket queens and left Cheung crippled when the board blanked. The 170 million pot was for the Canadian, which give him a huge chiplead when the Heads Up against John Racener started.

The 6-1 chip deficit was too hard to overcome for Racener and after 43 hands of Heads Up play he called off his last chips with K8 of diamonds, when Duhamel had open-shoved from the button. The young Canadian had the AJ offsuit in his hands. Two diamonds on the flop made for a little excitement, but when the turn and river blanked it was all over for John Racener.

John Duhamel won the Main Event of the World Series of Poker 2010! Not only did he receive the golden bracelet from last years’ winner Joe Cada, moreover he won a staggering $8,944,310. He probably is still celebrating in the nighlife of Las Vegas..
