The coolest chip tricks

For many players -especially for online poker players- live poker can take ages. Think of the old guy next to you that is taking forever, sqeeuzing his cards together, and finally taking a look at his cards (sometimes even one by one). Then next to him there is this young guy. Before he takes a peek at his cards, he looks around the table, counting everyone’s stack and thinks about ‘good spots’. When he finally picks up his cards, he sees a measly 73 offsuit and mucks….sigh.

These kind of scenario’s come up all the time when playing live poker. Unfortunately there are still not that many hot girls playing poker, so we need another way to pass the time when we are not in a hand. Of course, we can watch our opponents closely but that can be boring sometimes. Let’s do some chip tricks!

The tutorials

We start with the most simple trick there is: the chip shuffle. This is the most basic chip trick there is and the most easy to learn:

Another pretty easy trick is the thumb flip. This trick became popular after the James Bond movie ‘Casino Royale’. The cool Bond villain Le Chiffre did this trick several times during the poker scene in the movie. Again, this is not hard to learn. Skd1337 explains in one of his excellent tutorials:

The chip twirl is a move that takes a bit more practise. Luckily the trick is explained by Antonio ‘The Magician’ Esfandiari:

Now on to some more advanced stuff. The next chip trick is a really sexy trick. It’s called the Four Coin Roll Down and it looks fantastic if you know how to do it. Don’t expect to learn this one in an afternoon though! Again The Magician explains:

If you sit down for your first live poker experience and you can’t handle your chips well, people will start to think that they can run over you because they think you are unexperienced.
